Wind Ensemble I has a storied and proud tradition of excellence. The group has performed at the CBDA state conference four times (2007, 2010, 2018, 2023), at the 2013 and 2019 Midwest Clinics in Chicago, and at WASBE in the summer of 2015. The group made its debut at Carnegie Hall in April 2018 and will be returning again this spring. 

The group regularly performs a blend of traditional and contemporary music spanning 19th century transcriptions to the commissioning and premiering of new works by some of the most prominent voices writing music today.

We are excited to share this program with you because the repertoire and the diversity of the composers reflect the values we hold dear in our band program and in our music making. Through representation and direct connections to our band, each piece reflects a part of who we are and tells a narrative woven of community, commitment, and connection.
