AVHS Music is committed to well-rounded excellence:

• Wind Ensemble 1 chosen by audition to perform as featured ensemble at California All-State Music Conference (2006, 2010, 2018, 2023)

• Wind Ensemble 1 selected to perform at Midwest Clinic, an international band & orchestra festival, in 2013 and 2019

• Symphony Orchestra chosen 3 times as “reading orchestra” for professional development sessions at CMEA state conference

• Many band and orchestra students chosen for regional and statewide honors ensembles

• Chamber Choir regularly receives unanimous superior ratings at CMEA choral festivals 

• Top jazz ensemble is a multi-year class champion and finalist at the Folsom Jazz Festival

• Guard and percussion groups are regular finalists and champions in local and WGI regional competitions

• Varsity winter guard is a 4-year division champion in the California Color Guard Circuit and a multi-year regional champion for WGI. In 2024 the guard took 4th place in Scholastic A Finals at World Championships

• The 300-member marching band is a multi-year finalist in Western Band Association championships and a six-time finalist in Bands of America regional competitions
