Choirs

The Amador Valley Choir Department consists of 2 large groups and 5 smaller ensembles. The 2 large groups that meet during the regular school day are Concert Choir and Chamber Choir. The 5 smaller groups that meet during lunch are Men’s Choir, Women’s Choir, Barbershop Quartet, Beautyshop Quartet, and Mixed Vocal Ensemble  (Contemporary Acapella). Concert Choir is open to all students (9–12) and does not require an audition. All other groups are auditioned ensembles. The choirs often combine with our award-winning orchestra and jazz band groups.

Another optional choral activity is the Spring District Musical. You can watch the trailer for the 2021 virtual musical here. Auditions for the musical usually take place in November.

The Chamber Choir consistently receives “Unanimous Superior” ratings at the California Music Educators Association Choral Festival. In addition, they received the Choral Sweepstakes award at the Big Apple Choral Competition in New York in 2016.

In addition to classical and choral music, the choirs sing in a variety of styles, including jazz, Broadway, spirituals, world music, foreign languages, and contemporary acapella.
