Jonathan Grantham, Director

The Amador Valley High School has 3 orchestras: two String Orchestras and one Symphony Orchestra.  During the 2020 school year, the Symphony Orchestra will be performing at the California Music Educators All-State Conference for the third time. The group was selected to perform 20 pieces for the  state-wide convention which occurs February 20-23. In addition to the three large orchestras, the string department also has smaller ensembles such as String Quartet and Cello Ensemble.   As they did in 2019, the Symphony Orchestra consistently receives “Unanimous Superior” ratings at the California Music Educators Orchestra Festival.  In addition, they received the Instrumental Sweepstakes Award at the Big Apple Orchestra Festival in New York in 2016. The Symphony Orchestra will be participating in that New York City festival again in April of 2020.
